Fall-Line Motorsports looks to finish 2009 season on positive note at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill
Northbrook, IL (Dec. 1, 2009) — On December 5-6, Fall-Line Motorsports looks to conquer a long and grueling 25 hour endurance race that had been known as "The most severe endurance race on the planet," as well as race for a good cause, to once again raise at least $25,000 per car, for a total goal of at least $50,000, in the "Drive for 25" for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
For the second straight year, Fall-Line Motorsports and Shriners Hospital for Children will team up for the "Drive for 25" charity event in NASA's 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Last year, Fall-Line looked to win the 25 Hours of Thunderhill with a dominating lead, but with about 5 hours left in the race, the team retired with mechanical issues. This year, with a roster of drivers that can read as a "Who's Who of Road Racing," the team is ready to take on Thunderhill Raceway Park, with dreams of an overall win in their two BMW E46 M3's.
The Trim-Tex, Hoosier Tires, Fall-Line powered BMW E46 M3 will make its second appearance at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and will be piloted by Joe Koenig of Glenview, IL; Mark Boden of Winnetka, IL; Gunter Schaldach of Aspen, CO; and Mike Borkowski of Miami, FL. This will be the second time that motorcycle racer turned auto racer Joe Koenig and Fall-Line Motorsports owner Mark Boden will race the 25 Hours of Thunderhill together, and both are looking to take an overall win, after leading a good portion of the race last year. Joining Joe and Mark will be 2008 SPEED World Challenge GT Rookie of the Year Gunter Schaldach and 1997 Trans-Am Rookie of the Year Mike Borkowski, who earlier this season teamed with Fall-Line, and Schaldach, to finish seventh at Miller Motorsports Park in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge race there.
The second Fall-Line powered BMW E46 M3, sponsored by Weather Tech and the Barrington Concours will be driven by 2009 SCCA Touring 2 Central Division champion Jim Hamman of Barrington, IL; 2009 SCCA STO Central Division champion Tom Herb of Barrington, IL; 2008 June Sprints champion David MacNeil of Hinsdale, IL; up and coming hot shoe Cooper MacNeil of Hinsdale, IL; and three-time SCCA Pro SPEED World Challenge GT champion Randy Pobst of Atlanta, GA. David and Randy teamed together for Alex Job Racing in 1999 to finish 2nd in the 12 Hours of Sebring for GT2 in a Porsche, and both are helping Cooper with his racing career (David as sponsor, Randy as driving coach). Jim and Tom are both actively involved in the Barrington Concours, a charity classic car event held every year benefiting the Barrington Area Conservation Trust and the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
